William DeSeta has always explored eclectic career paths. He has produced, directed or designed over thirty Off & Off-Off Broadway shows, built two theaters and owned a third, all culminating with his Broadway production of The Candyapple.
That theatrical career was often interrupted by other interests; managing The Bitter End, the hottest Folk venue in the nation and creating The Tin Angel restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village were two; a sideline as a photographer that led to creating posters and album covers for many top recording artists was another. His theatrical design background led him first into designing stores, restaurants and galleries in SOHO and a townhouse on the Upper West Side and then into the world of fashion where his award winning, Body Jewelry was marketed under his own label and that of Anne Klein.
His success at theatrical and fashion design soon led to films where he was production designer on a dozen feature films, as well as episodes of three TV series.
It was in the down time between films that he began writing. His earliest work was as comedy writer/director for Cable-TV's, The Henway Company. This same period produced, You Make It Happen, an industrial musical which, he wrote and directed, plus a number of screenplays optioned by various production entities. His screenplay, Perfect Timing, was produced by Robert Lantos for RSL and still appears late night on HBO.
His novel, Racing September, has recently re re-issuued by Temurlone Press in a Kindle edition, "River Rats" was optioned by both Paramount and Warners. He recently finished a rewrite on director Lazlo Szabo's script, Paris Blues, which is being produced by Bahman Mogshudlou in France.
In his spare time he curates art shows at East Coast galleries and is writing and directing a documentary film on The Craft of Art. He is married to casting director Donna DeSeta and they have one son, Cristian, a composer and photographer.
